Grosjean a very lucky man, if it wasnt on the first lap then the safety car wouldn't of been behind him and the blokes with the fire extinguishers would of been a minute or 2 later and he would of been stuck in that fireball.
Awful driving anyway to cause the crash, last few years he seems to of had as many retirements as finishes.
Kudos to the car designers and the guy who invented Halo

Helmuth Koinigg decapitation....not for the faint hearted..... and David Purley trying to pull Roger Williamson out of his flaming car are two of the worst things i have seen in sport...
what was it that jackie stewart said? He had a 1 in 3 chance of actually surviving to the end of a F1 career... so a 2 in 3 chance of dying on the track.... spitfire pilots in the battle if britain had a better chance if survival

Jackie Stewart use to tape a spanner to the steering wheel so he could release himself if he crashed.
If you ever get a chance then watch the “ Grand Prix Years “, it explains everything about F1 safety.

Shocking crash and unbelievable that he was able to walk away with minor burns. On one report, someone had linked Sophia Floersch’s F3 crash from a couple of years ago - absolutely chilling - and she was back racing not too long after. Whatever safety design features are inbuilt these days are quite astonishing.
